On The Road

“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.” -Heraclitus

All hotels are essentially the same. The quality can obviously span quite the spectrum but they all make you feel a little empty inside if you spend too much time in them. Some are dank and depressing the second you open your door. Some are opulent and exhilarating to walk into. But in the end, hotels will always remind you of how detached you are, for better or worse. That detachment, that’s the thrill you feel when you go on vacation. A momentary diversion from the attachments of life. Quality of life becomes less about sentiment and nostalgia, more about pleasure and gratification. Life starts to feel like room service; convenient but overpriced and no matter how filling, never quite satisfying
