Redux
01.2024 - Hong Kong
I lived in Asia from 2005 - 2015 and for most of that time I lived in Hong Kong. As we too often realize in hindsight, it was hard to pay attention to and appreciate the details of life as they happened. You get caught up in the day to day minutiae of annoyances and struggles and let the time unravel at an uncontrollable pace until one day, you’re somewhere else living a completely different life, unsure if your memory is being honest about that time and place that you used to call home.
I’m glad I got to go back and see the city and old friends again with the benefit of time and distance to calibrate the point of view. I was happy to tie up some loose ends and close some doors that I didn’t realize I had left open.
Hong Kong, I’m not sure if I miss you, but I was certainly happy to see you again.
