Bummer

I have a collection of photos that depict solitude in large open spaces and I always thought I just really enjoyed being able to capture these moments either by chance or by composition. There’s something really fun about looking at these photos and knowing that it was actually quite busy with pedestrians and I “created” these fictitious moments through some patience and skill and cropping magic. I can spot a moment where everyone is moving around at just the right speed and spacing that I can capture someone all alone in an open space and I always enjoyed being able to do this. Maybe I was even proud of having this… skill (?).

Then two friends (who don’t know each other) casually and separately told me that I am probably able to see these moments because this is how I feel…?

That really bummed me out and now I don’t really enjoy taking these photos.
