Hot Summer: Pandemic & Protests

NYC was a weird place in the summer of 2020. There were no tourists anywhere. You could ride your bike over the Brooklyn Bridge without screaming at tourists taking selfies to get out of the bike lane. You could walk down empty avenues with little worry of getting run over by cars. Central Park was… empty. Shopping intersections in Soho were.. quiet. But at the same time, protests were bubbling up throughout the city. Streets and Avenues were unexpectedly closed for blocks. Cops were out in numbers, looking like the military. I saw a police van set on fire steps away from my apartment building. It was definitely a weird time. I put together a small collection of photos I took, mostly while riding my bike around aimlessly in the empty streets. Hope you enjoy looking at them.
